My Beautiful Table-turned-Bench!

Look at her! Isn't she beautiful? DON'T LIE. That thing is just plain ugly. So here's how I skillfully acquired this beast: On yet another rainy day at Anna Maria Island, we decided to go store-hopping. We went to this awesome beachy store where they had furniture and fabrics galore. Basically, I was in designer heaven. So, after all that coastal-inspired fun, we went to this antique store right by a gas station (that's when you know it's classy). And right there is where I fell in love with this old, unloved, and completely soaked coffee table. At first, I walked by and said to myself, "Meh." After a few more looks, I noticed that it's like all those bamboo accents I've been noticing in design magazines recently. That's when my design ideas began to flow. Now, with my $18 table in hand, I'm going to turn it into a bench!

Here's my cost breakdown:

Table w/ Glass Inserts: $18.00

2 Cans of White Spray Paint: $6.00

Sandpaper: $4.00

Fabric: $24.00 The fabric store I went to had Waverly on sale for 40% off!

Foam: $35.00 with my coupon from the store.

1/2'" MDF: $2.00 I'm not lying. From the scrap pile!!

And all that adds up to make this:

TAADAA!! I looooooove it. Hopefully it will find a place to call home soon..

My next project is a headboard! So keep your eyes peeled...

Enjoy the dwindling days of summer! (:

Okay, here goes...

Hello, everyone!(I say everyone because, of course, that makes me sound like I have a lot to say.) My name is Sarah, and this is going to be my little notation of all the design projects(or attempts) I'm going to do with the increasing number of households in my family. But, I'll get to that later. For now, I'll just say this is going to be the spot where I talk about the cool projects everyone sees on HGTV and how I try to incorporate them into my own design ideas without dropping out of college or draining my savings account(Ramen noodles couldn't possibly be the reason). So, thanks for sneaking a peek, be sure to look back if painting coffee tables makes you feel accomplished!
